Edinburgh School Olympics project

Hello- we're EUSA Volunteering- your friendly student volunteering service based within the Student Union in Potterrow (www.eusa.ed.ac.uk/volunteering)

A pioneering Edinburgh based project is linking students from a variety of countries with schools as part of the City's Olympics programme but is desperately short of students from MALAYSIA!! If you're interested in sharing info about your country with 9 and 10 year olds from Edinburgh read on...

You'll be matched to a school for the project and plan with the class teacher what activities to deliver for example Comparative study of Scotland and the your country in areas such as global footprint, number of refugees, access to education ,Study of your country on areas such as language and literature, geography ,art, music, dance, food and exercise.Discussion about your country's athletes in the Olympics and Paralympics

You can start volunteering as soon as we get the police checks done, probably in January 2012.

What do I need to do if I’m interested?

You need to be resident here in Edinburgh between October 2011 and summer 2012. You need to have a Tier 4 visa. It would also be very helpful if you have a clear police check document from your own country (don't worry if you don't have this). We will also need to register you here with the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme – please contact Alexandra.Knox@edinburgh.gov.uk to arrange this as soon as possible. She will get back to you with an appointment time to go in and get your PVG check sorted out.

You can also email volunteering@eusa.ed.ac.uk for more information.

Also, if this opportunity doesn't suit you we have a database with over 100 more available visit http://volunteering.eusa.ed.ac.uk to register and start browsing our list of volunteering ideas. We post all of our new volunteering opportunities and ideas on Facebook too: just search for EUSA Volunteering and click 'like' to stay updated.

Look forward to meeting you!!
